At the crossroads of important societal and environmental trends, the « Sustainable and Engaged Future » workshops aim to bring scientists and the general public closer together.

Inspired by the model of « » scientific cafes, we invite participants to openly engage with experts, ask questions and express their opinions in the context of six interactive public discussions. Each workshop is designed as an inclusive space where different points of view are welcomed and valued. We aim to strengthen the link between society and the University of Luxembourg by promoting direct interaction, openness, transparency and public engagement. Join us on this exciting adventure to bring science closer to the community and work together towards a sustainable and engaged future.

Our second workshop is an inspiring public discussion with Professor Catherine Jones, Tom Becker and Alexander Skinner, all members of the Department of Geography and Land Planning at the University of Luxembourg, about the future of renewable energy systems and their impact on our cities and countryside. The discussion will be stimulated by a guided tour and augmented reality discovery using our custom app that allows you to experience imaginative urban solar installations in historic neighborhoods.

As we move towards renewable energy, we face challenges related to the visual, social and environmental impacts of these changes. These impacts are deeply linked to the socio-cultural values that citizens attach to places. Our goal is to address these challenges head-on through open and inclusive dialogue. In our SolarZukunft Living Lab, we invite you to try our app and share your thoughts on solar energy in urban areas. This hands-on approach will engage residents and visitors in meaningful discussions about the social acceptance of solar panels in culturally important areas of Luxembourg City.
